Oh how Covid-19 has just messed up the world in some many ways. One way is through the weddings. Couples had to reduce their guests list, sometimes to half of what they were hoping for, just to make sure the were complying with state guidelines. Holly and Brian were one of those couples. They were determined to keep their Wentworth Lodge wedding on Ram Island in Maine during the fall but they knew they would have to cut down the guest count significantly. But one thing they didn’t have to cut down was the decor and flowers.
Holly, who grew up coming Higgins Beach as a kid which is what Wentworth Lodge looks over, was excited toe bring her friends and family to a place that felt like home to her. With an outdoor ceremony overlooking Higgins Beach- one of Maine’s best places to surf- and then a clear tented reception in the middle of the field, their location was perfect for the fall day they had. Changing leaves and fog rolling in during the morning and evening hours helped set the mood for this day. The guys got ready at the lodge itself which screamed rustic Maine with its stone exterior, stacks of firewood, and nostalgic Maine decor inside. The girls got ready just down the road at Inn By The Sea where it was so foggy that morning you couldn’t even see the beach itself. But you could definitely smell the salty air.
Their Wentworth Lodge wedding ceremony was sweet and heartfelt as they wrote their own vows and read them to each other. After they walked away as a married couple, they were able to join their guests and have some Maine oysters and seafood appetizers before heading into the clear tent. Holly & Brian worked with Kelsey of Back Bay Bride to make their vision come to life. Greenery was hung on the entrance into the tent to welcome them along with a champagne wall that had guests names and table numbers attached to them. Greenery was spread throughout the tent- hung from the tops and draped along the centers. Beautiful blush and white centerpieces graced the tables along with blush tapers, clear chargers that mimicked the clear tent, and frosted acrylic table numbers.
One of Holly’s friends made her the chicest mask holder that Holly then wore for cocktail hour and for dancing the night away during the reception. Holly even had custom masks made for the wedding that had the couples names and wedding date engraved in gold on the sides. Though this year has been so tough with Covid-19 ruining almost all of everyones plans, it has been such a breath of fresh air to be able to see these intimate weddings still happen and watch love abound even in the midst of a pandemic.
