I won’t forget this wedding for a while because it was the first wedding I got to photograph (with Greta Tucker) as a Portland Maine resident. I was exhausted from the long drive across the country and I had a mile long list of things to do, phone calls to make, stuff to buy from moving states. But this wedding was just a joy to be a part of! I walked John over to the First Look location right in downtown Portland Maine and I told him how beautiful his bride looks and he said, “She looks beautiful on a Wednesday.” It was so sweet to hear him talk so lovingly about his bride and about their life they had made together- even when distance separated them.
Such a fun and perfect day shooting first in front of an old brownstone in Portland Maine and then traveling over to Falmouth Maine to the Falmouth Country Club celebrating their vows- with Abby’s grandma being their flower girl, how adorable is that- while their guests sipped on Maine drinks and then a great tented party with their friends and family from all over the country. Though I’m still getting used to the east coast style dancing which has the bride and groom have their first dance before dinner. It still catches me off guard every time but I love the sentiment behind it so much. Abby & John had their guests join in with them after their dance was done and if I could go back and redo my wedding I would have the dance party begin asap toon! Oh and let’s not forget that bouquet from Broadturn Farm in Scarborough Maine- I could photograph Abby and that organic, airy, dahlia filled bouquet all day long. Thanks for letting me tag along, Greta Tucker!
