I first heard of Shasta of Shasta Bell Calligraphy from my husband. We had just started going to a new church and this sociable, genuine, loving person (my words not his 🙂 ) came up to him and some how they got on the subject of me being a fine art wedding photographer. Shasta exclaimed that she was in the wedding industry as well and that she does wedding calligraphy. When David told me I didn’t think too much of it…there are a lot of people who claim to be a calligrapher…ie they took a class and like to doodle here and there. But then I saw her work and just died. Shasta specializes in fine art calligraphy
Way back when she redid my logo for me and also made a massive poster for my About Me page on my website. I no longer have it up- because I lost 40 lbs (#lostthebabyweight) and dyed my hair back to blonde so I don’t even look like myself in the picture. But I still love that creation and wish it was hanging in my home. You can view it on my Instagram page way back in the archives here.
And now Shasta is just killing it with her fine art calligraphy. I could literally scroll her Instagram feed for days looking at all the strokes and curves of her lettering- sounds creepy, it’s not.
For this project, I got to photograph her new fine art calligraphy options for her invitation suites while visiting back in Minneapolis since moving to Maine. Her pieces are so romantic, so European, so regal. And a little kitty makes a quick appearance in the photos below. Shasta explains on her website that she “longs to create heirloom pieces that you will treasure for years to come.” Her and me both!
