I have quite a few different favorite types of wedding venues- gardens, libraries, backyards- but estate weddings are definitely at the top of my list, especially this Scandinavian estate wedding! Private estates have immense amount of character and uniqueness that can’t be duplicated so your wedding won’t feel like every other couples wedding. Another great thing about estate weddings is that the grounds are typically pretty large and pretty diverse so you won’t have to plan on going anywhere else for photographs which means less travel, less wasted time, less stress for you!
Brigetta & Jake were the sweetest couple whomyou could tell where madly in love from the moment you saw them together. As I photographed them on their wedding day I felt like I was a fly on the wall in their home because when these two come together they are consumed with each other in the best of ways. B&J got married in a little Lutheran Church and then enjoyed an intimate dinner under the summer sun at the Scandinavian estate, American Swedish Institute– that I also got to photograph at last year! But before they sat down to dine among their friends they took a brief moment, just the two of them, to dance while their trio played in the mansion.
Brigetta is Scandinavian so there were many Scandinavian touches throughout the wedding. One touch was the Scandinavian wedding cake, Kransekake, where the tradition is that while the groom holds the cake, the bride grabs the top and however many layers she pulls up is how many kids they will have. And Jake’s expression during this is just priceless- check it out below! There was a quick rain shower right after the couple’s first dance and though that was a bummer, a rainbow came out and ended the night in the most magical way.
