Minneapolis Vendor Portraits | Blush and Whim

March 18, 2015

I have the awesome opportunity to share a studio with this visionary! Not only is she a phenomenal wedding planner but she’s also a great person- funny, care free, and always finding the cup half full. I can 100% say that if you work with Jennae and her awesome team that you will not regret it!

Why did you start your business?

I started Blush & Whim in April of 2013

Do you have a team or work alone?

I am so lucky to have a beautiful and dynamic group of women working with me. They are all not only some of the most genuine and kind ladies I have ever met, but also extremely creative, hardworking and passionate about creating a unique and loving experience for each of our clients. They are all so talented in everything they do and inspire me to be be a better maker and business owner everyday!

What is your favorite part of the wedding day?

I love the hustle bustle and organized chaos of the set-up. I really feel in my element when there are a million things happening all at once and that magical moment when everything clicks and comes together. It’s so fun working with all of the incredible talent in the Twin Cities and working with such inspiring people to bring all the details together. Knowing that our clients are relaxing and completely trusting us to take care of all their precious details is very rewarding- and of course seeing the looks on their faces when they see their bouquets or the reception room for the first time is priceless!

How do you survive a wedding day?

Extra clothes, bandaids, coconut water and snacks! Wedding season in MN is HOT. I always make sure I bring an extra dress and change of shoes with me so I feel fresh and polished throughout the day.Band-aids are another must have to avoid those nasty blisters that start popping up once you get the 10th, 12th, or even 13th hour in….heels. Ouch. I also make sure I stock up on lara bars, celery and peanut butter, and lots of nuts to keep my energy up throughout the day as it’s hard to take more than 5 minutes to grab a bite to eat. I try to avoid soda or coffee and stick to coconut water or gatorade to avoid those nasty sugar and caffeine crashes. Keeps me feeling sharp and alert into the wee hours of the night!

When do you think is the ideal time/season/place to get married?

I think early October weddings in MN are LOVELY. The changing colors of the leaves and cozy, intimate feel you can achieve with candlelight, warm, neutral tones, and heavier food and wine pairings are my absolute favorite! You just can’t beat Minneapolis in the fall!

Wine or cake?

Ohhhh this is a tough one, but definitely wine! I worked at a winery when I was first getting into the industry and I just love everything about it. Is there anything better than a robust glass of deep crimson zin after a long day? I think not.
