If you know David and I at all you know that we’re not homebodies and we spend a large portion of our budget on eating out. I’m not a chef, I won’t ever try to make you think that. I’m proud of myself if I make something other than Shepherds Pie, pizza, or lasagna for dinner. But I do love the art of dining! I love everything about it! I love the drive to the restaurant with the hubs, talking about what we’re going to order. I love the waiting for a seat (though this rarely happens in Minneapolis because of our abundance of tasty places to eat) and people/food watching. I love sitting down and going over the menu and trying to guess what the table beside us has ordered because it looks perfect. I love deciding and waiting for our meal to come while enjoying a Long Island. And then the meal comes and I am in a place of bliss. Ah, it’s just the perfect thing to do every single day.
I recently got to photograph Spoon And Stable– Minneapolis’ new and extremely popular restaurant in the North Loop- for Artful Living Magazine. I had the pleasure of meeting with the owner and chef, Gavin Kaysen, and photographing him and his beautiful space. My assignment from Artful Living was to photograph Gavin and his spoons. I just assumed he must have this weird fascination with spoons or something but when I got there I soon found out that Gavin has taken spoons from all around the world at different restaurants when he’s thoroughly enjoyed his dining experience. He explained where a few of the spoons came from and what he had to eat at that restaurant. I thought it was a brilliant idea…other than the fact that it’s stealing and I’m too scared to do stuff like that.
But nonetheless, go make your reservation and enjoy some yummy food and gorgeous architecture! But don’t steal the spoons. Or maybe do. Ask Gavin, I’m not sure what his preference on that is.
