Exploring Nature in AZ | Lifestyle Photography

January 31, 2014

As much as we are city people we really would rather be spending the majority of our time camping, hiking, canoeing, just being in God’s creation. So our second day in AZ we ran up a “mountain” (mound) at Papago Park to catch the sunset. I’m pretty proud of myself for that since I was in sandals, a mini skirt, and a leather shirt. Don’t ever sacrifice fashion. 🙂

A couple days later we ventured to Camelback mountain (which is right in Scottsdale) and spent the morning climbing that. We got Dunkin’ Donuts for after the hike so that was just the icing on the cake…or donut? If I could start every day by hiking a mountain and eating a donut I swear I’d be a happier person.

On our second to last day we took what was supposed to be a 30 minute drive to Saguaro Lake but ended up being a 2 hour drive because we got there, realized we were almost out gas, closest gas station was 15 miles away, drove back to the lake, realized I forgot all of my lenses for a shoot I was doing there later that day, drove back to the hotel, drove back to the lake, then realized you needed to buy a day pass…at that same gas station that was 15 miles away. It was a pain but we eventually got to eat by this lake surrounded by mountains and then lay by the lake and read again. So it ended up being alright.

When you get to Saguaro Lake you would think you were days away from civilization and deep into the mountains when in reality you’re right beside a casino and 30 minutes from the city.

I wish we had two more days (or 50 if Lana could have been there with us) to hike all the other mountains around. Next time. Next time.
