A few days ago I was going through my Instagram feed- ooing and ahhing over all the scenic images that some of the travelgrammers I follow were posting. Then I came upon a picture of two people walking down a dirt road with mountains and a hazy sky in the background and the quote up above. It automatically struck me. I dwelt on that quote for days, thinking about the insane truth of it.
I think each Christian has a character trait of God that they love most about Him. Some love that He’s the Great Physician because they’ve seen Him heal the sick. Others may cling to his Fatherhood because they never experienced the love of an earthly father. Or some may appreciate Him as the Comforter because their need for a loving arm to hold them. My favorite trait of God is that He is a Creator.
I follow mostly travel photographers on Instagram because of my desire to see anything and everything that God has created. Yes, architecture is beautiful but it doesn’t wow me like caves or forests or ravines do. When I’m on top of a mountain or staring up at the skies I’m not worried about what I’m wearing. I’m not thinking about the next thing to buy. I’m not jealous because someone has something I’ve been waiting for. I’m just content. I’m overcome by God’s unique, detailed artwork.
So this year I will be doing a lot more wandering after my Creator, enjoying His creation and believing that He loved so much that He created beauty, art that points to Him and increases our desire to just be content in Him through Jesus.
