If you know me then you know my love for Iceland and that this is one of my photography bucket list items. David and I have been gathering info about Iceland since this past summer with plans to visit Summer 2014. The Blue Lagoon. Volcanic ash beaches. Reykjavìk. Massive waterfalls. Bjork’s house... I mean seriously! Endless summer sun. Mountains. Ah. I could go on forever about every beautiful sight there is in Iceland- visit my Pinterest board if you don’t believe me! I would just die to visit.
Well anywhoo, since we recently decided to adopt our baby girl we realized that we would need to save vacation days for that time when we get “the call” and get to go meet our baby’s birth mom and then the second “call” for when we get to go meet our baby. We also figured we should devote our extra cash to our $26k adoption rather than to a overseas vacation.
David knew I was kind of bummed that we weren’t able to travel to Iceland this year so for Christmas he did some research and found the American Swedish Institute. In December they were devoting each room to a different Scandinavian country and that country’s traditional table setting. And one of those rooms included Iceland!! I was so so so excited…it was my little piece of Iceland just 15 minutes away! And then they had a gift shop…and I spent a looong time in there trying to figure out what I wanted. David didn’t really enjoy that part, hah! It was one of the most fun days I’ve had with my best friend in a long time. I’m so thankful for him and his thoughtfulness.
Here are some images from our little day trip! Enjoy! Annnd if you know anyone getting married in Iceland, let me know! 🙂
